The large in the small, in the sound and smell of a raindrop, whole worlds unveiled and revealed—that, too, is Silver Rain. Through word, and sound, and onomatopoeia, a care for language, whichever one be yours, with decency, consistency, and care behind every letter, character, syllable.
We specialize in narrative (also known as creative) nonfiction, short fiction with an international, often cross-cultural twist, and hidden but extraordinary stories, within the common story. Languages (English – Russian – Spanish – Portuguese – Chinese – and on . . . and on . . . ) play a role in much that we do and inform the research and the narrative, and we support native and indigenous cultures wishing to reclaim their legacy and control, to a degree, their destiny.

Writing Services
Whatever you prefer, give us three core words or lines which sum up the nature of your request: human, 19th-century expansion, national parks. Or Japan, Dejima, Sakoku (the period of Japanese isolationism). Or the coquí (the frog native to Puerto Rico, introduced to Hawai’i, among other places), El Yunque National Forest, the Taíno. Or (going more speculative): the 23rd century, corporate malfeasance, environmental remedy.

Proofreading
The foundation of any good, readable text. Errors—as the English language is currently commodified and standardized, for ease of understanding across classes, regions, and countries—in spelling, syntax, and grammar, or higher up, metaphor, will impede the reading process and leave your readers scratching their heads, rereading not to read, but to try to figure out what you were trying to say, or get across, or evoke, in the first instance.

Editing Services
The next level up in the review and revision process. (We’ll refrain from calling it ‘Gold’ or ‘Platinum’ or anything like that, although it certainly, in terms of quality, is exactly this.) This includes proofreading, and a search—in some cases, light soul-searching—for the exact idiom, the correct phrase or verb or time- or age-appropriate expression, for your work, whether fiction, narrative nonfiction or poetry.

Translation
This facet of Silver Rain may, in fact, set us apart from most other groups as well as individual writers. We know languages. This means, in addition to English, which has become a sort of lingua franca for our spinning globe in the middle of the universe, at the edge of the Milky Way, for a billion and half of the eight billion and counting human inhabitants of this planet, we know other languages, often also linguae francae in their regions: Russian, Spanish, and Portuguese, and the voluminous Chinese language and its worldwide linguistic diaspora, are our daily fare, alongside English.

A quarterly literary journal celebrating our humanity, our challenges as an evolving, healing, forward-looking worldwide collective, with millions, now eight billion, individual efforts, all contributing to progress and development of a future in which we call can participate. Push back the dark, make the light lighter, and rise to the occasion: this is your one life, and we’re in it together, however ‘it’ finds form and expression.
Human beings are not ‘like that,’ and it is not just ‘human nature.’ There is something higher going on, and the planet—which, lest it need be said, includes us, humans—needs us, just as we need her, and not just for our material necessities. The collaboration is mutual, and responsible creativity is prime in this—create, and write, responsibly. This, too, is the Silver Rain premise, the spark of art existing on the line between light and night, day and dark, a fine line to travel, ‘the road less travelled,’ to be sure, but travelable, and navigable, nonetheless.
The Silver Rain Quarterly will premiere in 2026, four issues per year (seasonally—naturally).
